Pak Lah today flipped from his "he did not mean what he said" on the racist comment made by Ahmad Ismail and instead said "an apology is the right thing to do".
The elusive Ahmad Ismail, the man at the centre of a 'racial slur' controversy, however, said today he had done nothing wrong.
The Bukit Bendera Umno division chief added that he did not feel sorry and would not recant his alleged racist remarks against Chinese Malaysians during the recent by-election campaign in Permatang Pauh.
“I am not apologetic because I didn’t do anything wrong,” the Umno division leader from Penang told Malaysiakini via telephone today.
“As far as I am concerned, I did not say or do anything wrong. So why should I apologise?” said the local Umno strongman, who promised to give a full statement at a specially-arranged press conference in Penang this Saturday.
I am surprised at all ... that goes to prove the arrogance of certain UMNO politicians who thinks they can say anything and get away with it. The UMNO leadership must be firm when dealing with the likes of Ahmad Ismail otherwise they have much to lose.
ReplyDeleteIf such a racist utterance were to be committed by a non-Malay against the Malays, he or she would have been detained under the ISA or chared under the Sedition Act.
So how come the double standard here?
This incident clearly shows what UMNO had always thought of the non-Malays. They had forgotten that they too were "pendatang" and the real bumiputras of this land are the aborigines and not the Malays!

The World is watching the "Soap Opera" of Malaysia Politics. Globalisation is the Highway that links up the whole world. Ahmad Ismail is the Main Actor. If he has "done no wrong" why not lift up his head high, instead of burying himself in cowardice. Sooner or later he has to admit he is wrong, it is so clear that DPM Dato' Najib that "jumped in" on his behalf. And Pak Lah has been desperately trying to call Ahmad Ismail, because of that "attitude" behind that remark. Malaysians are forgiving people.

ReplyDeleteit was reported that najib was present when racist ahmad ismail uttered the racist slur. the police said that they had recorded statements from witnesses and have now wrapped the probe and sending to AG for actions.
the question is, since najib was present, was najib called up by the police to give a statement? any statement from najib. if not, can it be argued that the probe is not complete? afterall, najib went on record to apologise on behalf of this racist ahmad ismail.
